MANILA, Philippines - Marcelito Pomoy was proclaimed grand winner of ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 2,” the country’s biggest nationwide talent reality show, on Sunday.
Marcelito Pomoy beat 13 other grand finalists after garnering 19.56% text votes. He took home a whopping P2 million in cash prize.
Happy Feet and Freestylers were the 2 other grand finalists who comprised PGT’s top 3. They got 18.32% and 9.46% text votes, respectively.
On Saturday night, the 14 grand finalists performed death-defying acts and spectacular numbers at the Araneta Coliseum, an episode that became a trending topic on Twitter not only in the Philippines but the whole world.
“Nakaka-proud noong nakita namin sila to where they are right now, pinatunayan nila sa lahat na they were so deserving to perform in Araneta Coliseum and to be part of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ grand finals,” judge Kris Aquino said.
The 2 other judges of the show are actress Ai-Ai delas Alas and Freddie Garcia.
The results of the voting were announced on Sunday night and was aired live on Channel 2. -With a report from The Buzz
The second season of Pilipinas Got Talent premiered on ABS-CBN on February 26, 2011. Billy Crawford and Luis Manzano take role once again as the hosts of the show. Once again, the judges include former ABS-CBN executive Freddie Garcia, Kris Aquino, and Ai-Ai de las Alas. Auditions for this season were then held in several key cities in the Philippines including Dagupan, Batangas, Naga, Cebu, Davao, and Manila.
